Reviews
Food was underwhelming.
The tasting menu (first course with caviar and Asian pear and crispy seaweed) was a winner. The rest were mid. The smokiness in every dish did not have a significant progression or change of palate.
The porridge was mid and the sweet potato donut for dessert was a chewy and dense. Was not a fan.
Great service and attentive staff. But unfortunately I don’t think I’d be back.
Words can’t describe how amazing the food was at Jua - you can tell a lot of thought went into each dish and the ordering. I’d highly recommend adding on the Uni Kim because it was out of this world. The waiting staff works very hard and made the experience even more enjoyable. One of those places where I just want to keep on coming back. You won’t be dissatisfied if you come here - everything stands out.
Jua, the Korean fusion fine dining restaurant, captivated my taste buds with a harmonious blend of flavors. Each dish felt like a carefully orchestrated symphony, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs. The fusion of Korean elements elevated the dining experience to a whole new level.
Not only did the food leave a lasting impression, but the service was also commendable. The staff demonstrated professionalism and attentiveness, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Jua truly excels in delivering a top-notch dining experience where exceptional cuisine meets excellent service.
Five stars without a doubt – an absolute culinary gem!
Excellent service at Jua. The 7-course tasting menu was delicious and well thought out. The best course was the Jook with the abalone supplemental.
At $135 this is a steal!
Highly recommend for a special occasion. The vibe is cozy, and the staff are friendly. Each course is delicious. The caviar Kim and the uni Kim (the uni is an extra course) were a melody of flavors and textures, and it was divine. The scallops are fresh and have great bite. The jook, while elevated, is a reminder of simple comforts. The “banchan” that came with the duck were creative (and all tasted good), and the duck itself was tender and meaty and flavorful. The only “weak” link was the fish course; that course was good, but suffers in comparison to the other courses which were very good.
[One star ⭐️ Michelin] our second Michelin restaurant for the day and Jua didn’t disappoint. Chef Hoyoung Kim cooks modern Korean prix-fix that is both familiar and substantial. Loved the jook with abalone, especially on a cold day in NYC. The sweet potato donut is surprisingly good as well. 👍🏻
Our dinner at Jua was truly delightful. We opted for the tasting menu with the uni supplement, which was perfect. However, the only downside of the evening was that we arrived at 6:00, and no one took our drink orders until 6:15, which initially left a bad impression. It seemed that they seated almost everyone simultaneously and lacked the staff to promptly serve all tables. Nonetheless, the evening quickly improved from there.
Our table explored different drinks, the standout was the blueberry mule. The playful bonchon-inspired dish and the caviar Kim were personal favorites.
It's an ideal spot for a date or a special occasion, but not for a big party due to the subdued atmosphere (the largest table there when we went was a table of 4).
One of the best 7 course tastings I've been to in my life. Upon entry, there's a bar and we were a bit early for our reservation so I ordered the Jua Espresso Martini and my sister order a drink with SoJu. Her drink was very refreshing and mine had the perfect balance. Hands down top 5 Espresso martinis I've ever had.
The Caviar Kim was amazing. We wanted to order more but knew we had to get through of the tasting. The soup dish 🙄🙄🙄 *chefs kiss* it was at that moment I began to get full and was contemplating how will I finish this meal. I can disect each meal, but I won't overall everything was DELICIOUS esp the desserts. You receive one palette cleanser and then one decadent. The sweet potato sticky rice Donut with brown butter ice cream still has me in a choke hold and I wanted to bring some home.
Just stop what you're doing and make the reservation, you WONT regret it.
